Born: c1910 McDonnell Down Station NT
Died: 2006 Alice Springs NT
Language: Anmatyerre & Alyawarr
Country: Atnwengerrp
Region: Utopia, north-east of Alice Springs NT

Minnie was well known for her loose, free-flowing and repetitious patterning evocative of finger painting. Her work focused on women’s body (awelye-atnwengerrp) and bush melon designs. Encouraged late in life by her family to partake in the industry that has brought global attention to her region, Minnie began painting full time when she was in her late eighties. Nevertheless, with a gregarious and free-spirited approach to her work, she certainly achieved the freshness and innocence of a child at play. Her distinctive painting style is continually in high demand and is found in prominent private, corporate and public national and international collections including National Gallery of Victoria, AGNSW and Queensland Art Gallery.
