Abie Loy Kemarre

Born: 1972 Utopia Station NT
Country: Anmatyerre
Language: Eastern Anmatyerre
Region: Utopia, north-east of Alice Springs NT

Abie began painting in 1994 under the guidance of her grandmother, Indigenous artist, Kathleen Petyarre. A common subject of Abie’s paintings is the Bush Hen Dreaming, as well as Sand-hills and the Body painting series of works which are more abstract in style. Abie creates paintings that are both powerful and beautiful whilst maintaining a sense of the sensitivity and strength she derives from her Dreaming and her country. Her works are held in private, corporate and public collections nationally and internationally.
